My Story

Group Therapy Confidentiality Statement

Confidentiality is an important part of creating a safe and supportive group counseling environment. All group members are expected to respect the privacy of others and to keep the identities, personal information, experiences, and discussions shared during group sessions confidential.

Because group counseling involves multiple participants, absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed. Although each member will be asked to agree not to share information discussed in the group, the facilitator cannot control what participants may disclose outside of the group.

For this reason, participants are encouraged to use their own discretion when deciding what personal information they are comfortable sharing. Members should avoid sharing information that they would not feel comfortable having known outside of the group.

Participants are also asked not to record, photograph, screenshot, livestream, or otherwise reproduce any portion of an online group session. Sessions should be attended from a private location where conversations cannot reasonably be overheard by others.

By participating in the group, members agree to respect the privacy and confidentiality of fellow participants and contribute to an environment of trust, respect, and emotional safety.

Please remember: What is shared in the group should remain in the group, while recognizing that confidentiality among group members cannot be absolutely guaranteed.
